Making Baby Food: Mango Mix-Ups

I was busy making and freezing baby food last week to bring with us on our family beach vacation. My Cuisinart Baby Food Maker was working overtime. I had some extra mango puree, so I decided to play a little bit and layer it with some veggies. I’ve had to get creative these days because as my son’s taste buds grow and change, so do his preferences. Here’s to experimenting in the kitchen!

Mango Puree

  1. I used to buy fresh mangoes until I discovered frozen chunks from Trader Joe’s, made things much quicker and easier! Simply cut mango into small pieces and place in food processor.
  2. Add water to the steamer and steam. You don’t have to steam fresh, ripe mango but I do the frozen.
  3. When finished, drain steam water and puree to desired texture, I don’t add extra liquid, I just puree the mango, you may wish to add breast milk or formula if you want a very runny and smooth texture
  4. Pour into food container
  5. Mix-up, freeze or serve

Mangeet: Mango + Beets

  1. Β Wash, peel and cube beets
  2. Add water to the steamer and steam
  3. When finished, drain steam water, add milk and puree to desired texture
  4. Pour into food container
  5. Top with pureed mango and freeze
  6. Thaw and enjoy!

Manach: Mango + Spinach

  1. Wash spinach and put in steamer
  2. Add water to the steamer and steam
  3. When finished, drain steam water and puree to desired texture, I don’t add extra liquid, I just puree the spinach, it’s important to drain the steam water of spinach before pureeing
  4. Pour into food container
  5. Top with pureed mango and freeze
  6. Thaw and enjoy!

Mangouts: Mango + Brussel Sprouts

  1. Wash, quarter and place brussel sprouts in steamer (I use pre-chopped when I can find them, saves some time)
  2. Add water to the steamer and steam
  3. When finished, drain steam water, add milk and puree to desired texture (brussel sprouts take a good amount of milk to blend)
  4. Scoop into food container
  5. Top with pureed mango and freeze
  6. Thaw and enjoy!

These turned out so colorful and pretty. Unfortunately when they are mixed together the color turns funky but my baby hasn’t seemed to mind. They must blend well together because he has tried them all and loves them! Fisher has gotten very picky about what he allows me to feed him lately and these are about the only foods he will let me feed him. He is not a big fan of eating green finger foods, so I have to get them in him somehow! Score Team Mommy! Check out my other baby food recipes here. As always, let me know if you have questions.

Cheers!

Molly
