10 Months Old Milestones

This little guy turned ten months old June 27, 16. He fills my days with joy, love, challenge and laughter. I’m madly in love with him and look forward to seeing what his tenth month of life has in store. Let’s take a look at what typically develops around ten months of age.

  • Babbles using consonant/vowel and consonant/vowel/consonant combinations
  • Uses gestures with words
  • Imitates some speech sounds
  • May say “uh oh”
  • Understands “no”
  • Follows simple commands (e.g., get the ball)
  • Waves bye-bye
  • Gives toys/objects to caregiver
  • Begins to understand appropriate use of objects
  • Rolls wheeled toys
  • Looks at pictures in a book
  • Learns from trial and error
  • Emergence of depth perception
  • Searches for familiar objects
  • Prefers self-feeding
  • Uses pincer grasp
  • Repeats activities that get a response
  • Expresses emotions
  • Lifts and pushes arms to help put on clothing
  • Moves from standing to sitting in a coordinated manner

Recommended toys at 10 months old: balls, containers (put things in/out), bath toys, toys that have switches, dials, slides, board books
