Making baby food: Apples

Apples make a great first food for baby because they puree easily and are rich in nutrients. They are my go to when we are eating out because I know baby will eat them. He loves apples. I use pink lady, macintosh, or gala apples. They seem to make the yummiest puree.

  1. Of course begin by washing your apples
  2. Slice and peel apples
  3. Steam for approximately 20 minutes
  4. Puree using the chop feature of food processor
  5. Pour into freezer trays, label with the date, and freeze, put some in the refrigerator to give baby extra fresh applesauce ASAP

Baby food cubes are safe to remain in the freezer from 3 to 6 months. Use baby food cubes within 1 month to 3 months for optimal taste and nutrient retention.
